I received my Omni a couple of days ago. I love it! It is my first experience with Hapi or any type of steel drum. I think its great. Very nice tone, comfortable to play, and cool look. I hope it will eventually be available in a minor scale, but this one is so fun that I've had a hard time putting it down for the last two days. I like it so much that I just ordered another drum to go with it. I'm going with the Hapi Bell this time.
From the moment I laid my hands on it, I was transported to a world of soul-stirring melodies and calming rhythms. Prepare to be amazed!
In order to prevent rambling about how much I love this drum, I'm going to list everything I love in point form. ~It arrived to my house in Canada in 2 weeks from the day I clicked order. ~They took the time to warn me about possible duty charge before I was committed (turns out in Canada its only a 10 dollars processing fee). ~It is a beautiful piece of playable art! The note arrangement is way more intuitive compared to any other brand I have tried, and own. ~It feels like an extension of me. Just close your eyes and feel it. ~The unique design of the omni, sets it apart from other tongue drums in that it feels like a pan drums little brother. I could keep going, but I'm sure you get the idea. It was so nice to buy an instrument from a person, vs a sterile store, from a faceless factory. My only dilemma was what key to get it in ( F major) but hey, the pans little brother might need a G major sister, and a mini in D Akebono cousin, and a ...
I just received the new Omni Drum, Wow what a beauty! The resonance and depth are off the charts (as usual) and this new model is right at home with my other Hapi Drums. The new Omni shape is represented in the wonderful timbre of each note and I can't wait to start recording with it. :) The backpack is a huge plus and I am absolutely a fan of the ergonomic design, comfy, practical and rugged. Thank you for once again for spreading HAPIness! Dylan Muetterties, Muetterties Studios
